Privacy policy
YouTLDR is built to summarize YouTube videos, not to build a creepy dossier on you. We collect the minimum we need to run the extension, enforce limits, sign you in, and handle billing.
What we collect
- Local install and settings data, including an install identifier, local preferences, and usage counters.
- Account data if you sign in, such as your email address and basic Google profile fields like display name and avatar.
- Billing state, including Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, plan, and subscription status. Stripe handles payment details. We do not store full card numbers.
- Service content needed to generate and serve summaries, such as YouTube video IDs, titles, channel names, thumbnails, transcript text, summary output, and feedback.
- Limited usage and abuse-prevention data, such as usage counters, request metadata, IP-derived security signals, browser information, and language preferences.
How we use it
We use this data to run the extension and website, cache and serve summaries, enforce free-plan limits, prevent abuse, and keep accounts and billing working.
We also use limited product analytics to understand failures, quota events, and whether the core flows are working.
Who we share it with
We use service providers to run YouTLDR, including Supabase for auth and database infrastructure, Stripe for billing, analytics tools, and AI model providers used to generate summaries.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising or credit decisions.
Deletion and retention
You can delete your account from the account page after canceling any active paid subscription.
Deleting your account removes your profile, entitlement state, subscription state in our database, and usage data tied to your profile. It also disconnects linked device installs.
Shared summaries and transcripts already generated for the service may remain because they are part of the shared summary database, not your personal profile.
Stripe, Supabase, and other providers may keep records under their own retention policies.
Google data
If you sign in with Google, we use that information only to identify your account and connect billing and entitlements.
If we receive information from Google APIs, we use and transfer it only in line with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
